M O (O) D E S is an ambient guitar album. It is also a study of the musical modes as related to emotional moods. Each track represents the musical mode it is named after. Each modality carries with it a chord and a mood that is reflected through a specific series of notes. The whole album could be interpreted as one key, each successive mode reflecting the diatonic chords in that key. Each track has a tonal center based on the root note of said mode, giving each mode a distinct vibe that can be compared to a human emotion or mood. Modes that correspond with major triads tend to be happier and uplifting, while minor modes are more melancholy. The diatonic scale has seven notes, seven chords, seven colours, seven moods.
